Default Yet another Engine Mod and Interior question --

Hello-

I'm the original owner of a 2004 corvette convertible with 45k miles. This car is my daily driver, looks brand new, and other than routine maintenance the car has been trouble free.

That said, I've reached a crossroad with the car and I'm considering engine and interior modifications. Thus, I was wondering if you could provide me with your feedback.

Engine Performance:

My goal is keep the car as a daily driver but I would like to increase the HP to 450 (just to bring it more in line with "today's" counterparts).

In reading the forum, I get the impression that engine modifications = more hp = track day = more fun = more wear and tear = less reliability = more trouble. And that relationship I can understand. However:

1. If I went ahead with engine mods and increased the ponies to 450 would my days of just routine maintenance be over if I DIDNT take the car to the track?

2. What would be the best way to take the car to 450 with the "daily driver" theme in mind? Ideally, I would want to keep the car as "quite" as possible and it would still need to pass emissions - but not in CA. Any thoughts?

Interior Seat Options

I'm just exploring options at this time but has any one purchased the Corbeau seats as a "daily driver" seat? I have to admit they look like quality/fun but I'm not sure they would be the best option for a daily driver. Again, thoughts?

In closing, any feedback you could provide given my situation would be much appreciated. Additionally, I would like to thank all forum members for their pictures/posts. They have been very inspirational and educational. Thank you!

When you say 450hp, do you mean at thr engine or the wheels? Ive got full headers w/ cat. converters, FAST intake, 232/234 cam and make 390 to the rear wheels or about 460 at the engine. It's a decent driver, but I wouldnt want to have it as my DD.

I have a Heavily modded 02 ZO6 with 450 RWHP. Your going to spend a LOT of cash to get to that level and that WILL lead to other drive train issues that you will have to overcome. You will need a new clutch, better differential output shafts and figure out how your going to overcome the traction issues.

When I was at the 390 RWHP level, I didn't have any issues I couldn't overcome.

What trans do you have???

You will need a new stall converter, Trans oil cooler and a worked level IV tranny that will survive the new power along with the differential improvements.
