Default Newb with a problem..

Hey, what's up guys, my name is John and I'm from South Carolina. I've got a 03' black Z06 with 22,000 mi that I recently purchased and love it to death..

Anyway, here's my problem..

When I got the car, everything was mechanically sound, put it on the lift and checked everything out myself and drove it home once I was happy with it's condition. Everything was great and then a week later I go to roll down the passenger window and nothing.. Previously the window would roll up perfect and fast and now it's not even moving..

Having upgraded from a Camaro SS I'm not really familiar with these cars and I don't wanna poke around and mess something up. I grabbed a towel and a screw driver and pulled the passenger control panel out of the door, inspected it, found no damage and unplugged it to check the connectors and then shortly reinstalled it after finding nothing..

Funny story, the EXACT same thing happened to my buddies Z06, and I laughed at him about it and now it's happening to me.

Default Relays on the Door Control Module

This is a common problem. The relays for the windows and also the door locks die and have to be replaced. Do a search in the forums and you will see lots of info on how to do it yourself. Also, in the area where the wiring goes from the door into the body where the belows tube is, there are some connectors where the wire gets exposed and will short out on the body. Some people have fixed this by wrapping electrical tape around the exposed wiring and their windows work again....

Check post #5 here for an explanation of this...

A good number of these failures is due to non-use of the passenger window so the commutator windings in the motor become contaminated so the motor brushes no longer touch the winding contacts. A simple fix that sometimes works is to pound on the window or rapping on the window when you push the down button. This wil "sometimes" get the motor to move a hair where those brushes will then contact normally and it'll take off and go on its own. It doesn't always work therefore requiring you to gain access to the motor but know that the window motor and regulator are an assembly. Yes, the RDCM has the relay that sends the power to the motor so as already suggested, you need to verify if you are getting power to the motor first before going too far.
