and now a front defroster issue
it started after I had the dash out last time playing with the passenger's blend door actuator. I think anyway, hard to tell.
issue is my front defroster vent seems to be active all the time. air is blowing out of it even when I have the HVAC settings set to floor mode only.
I do not think its vacuum related because the vents do respond to commands, they will go to floor, dash, or both. the only problem is air still comes out of the defroster vent no matter what. I realized the issue when I started to notice that the airflow out of the other vents isn't as strong as it used to be, some was going to the defroster.
I also have been getting a banging sound from the dash. loud enough that the first time it happened I thought my radar detector had fallen from its mount dropped 30cm and landed on top of the dash. the sound is coming from the defroster area, like just below the upper dash pad.
my thinking is something mechanical just got jammed, I must have not gotten something in the right place. but has anyone seen something like this before? any tips on what to look for? I'll be pulling the dash pad out either this weekend or next to try to fix it and finish up several other things.

There are vacuum lines going to the various places from the controller. I'm thinking one came off but the only way you are going to know is either to get your head under there and hope you can see up inside or take the pad back off. Sorry.
