I recently purchased a 1998 C5 that was put through a barbed wire fence, the whole front end body was torn off. The car will fire and idle like a champ, but it won't run over idle speed. Part of the problem is that the computer(mounted in the passenger fender) was torn off and the wires cleanly cut. I soldered the wires back together matching color to color. The black box that is mounted next to the computer also mostly torn off. I resorted to soldering those wires together also. But, I am down to 9 wires still coming out of the main harness and 5 wires coming out of the black box, none of these colors match. I'm thinking that this may be part of the throttle problem being it is a electronic throttle. Both air bags also blew, I am curious if there is a sensor in the car that it will not run over idle speed until the air bags are replaced?

Any time you have situation where a wiring harness is literally torn off, you have a potential for stretched wires in the loom. The insulation looks fine, but the copper can be fractured. The only way to be sure, is ohm out every single wire.
Also, just soldering the wires together, based purely on color, won't fly. Just because the wire color is the same, doesn't not mean it's connected to the same device.
