Default P0654 while programming the vehicle

I've got no rpm gauge movement after programming the car with HPtuners. This happened before but after a "write entire" it started working again. Now that "rad entire" doesn't help anymore. I've got a P0654 set and rpm gauge points zero..

Is the gauge test signal for each gauge generated in the gauge cluster or in the PCM? I ask just to narrow my failure possibilities.. The gauge test works just fine.

A voltage is supplied to the Engine Speed Output circuit. The PCM creates the Engine Speed Output signal by pulsing the circuit to ground at a predetermined hertz rate. The PCM pulses the circuit at the same rate as the Engine Speed signal input. The PCM monitors the voltage on the Engine Speed output circuit. If the PCM determines the voltage is out of the normal operating range, a DTC sets.

It's interesting that I had a similar thing happen recently when I was tuning on an 04 Z06 and the tach quit working for a while. I suspected a ground problem, and cleaned several of the chassis grounds under the hood (among a few other random checks). That seemed to fix it for me, as the tach began working again and the car settled down and behaved.

I use EFI Live to tune my 02 ZO6 and my C6. I up loaded a tune once just before heading out to work and as I was driving out of the sub division, I noticed that I did NOT have any oil pressure.

Engine sounded fine so,, I shut it down, checked the oil, looked for leaks and all seemed well. When I restarted the engine, I didnt have TAC, or Coolant Temp.

So,,, I figured that it had something to do with the PCM flash. I did a complete PCM reflashed and all readings returned to normal. WHEW!!!!!

Try to do a Complete PCM RE-FLASH. MAKE SURE that your battery is FULLY CHARGED and while your doing the flash, DO NOT change any loads in the car... That can and will effect the reflash data.

I assume you mean the "write entire"-option? I did that 2 times but it didn't help..

I still have many things to change in the tune so we'll see if this goes away at some point or not. I'll seek for the white wire going from PCM to gauge cluster if this problem persists.

Still no luck with rpm gauge.. I have re-flashed the car for 15-25 times and few times with "write entire" but rpm gauge has not worked at all.

I will have to look for the white wire and gauge that while running..

I probed the rpm signal wire from PCM to Gauge cluster.. 14,3 V and 0 Hz. There's something wrong inside the PCM, I hope it's just programming error.
