I installed a LMC5 this summer in my 02. As soon as I got it back together I also had the column locked up. You will have to take the LMC5 out, go into the fuse panel under the hood and remove fuse 23 I believe, if my memory serves. Then go back and reinstall the LMC5 and you won't have anymore issues with the column locked or the wait 10 on the DIC. This option has 1 issue though, now my column doesn't lock at all... ever... It's no big deal for me though. Mine is a M6. I got this info straight from Richard when I called him, he was a great help over the phone.
2 questions, was your column locked when you installed the LMC5 and did you reinstall the fuse when you completed the lmc reinstall? Thanks
No the column wasn't locked, nor did have an issue with it. I did the LMC5 because of the wait 10. After I installed the LMC5 my column was locked which kinda suprised me. That's why I called Richard and he walked me through the fuse fix. I honestly can't remember if I reinstalled the fuse. Richard was awesome to deal with and get me on track, probably spent a total of 2 mins on the phone with him to get things straight.
Just read this entire thread as I have just started experiencing these issues last night. I have a 2001 M6 that I was installing the CAGS eliminator kit on from Complience Parts. After the install, I went to take the car for a test drive and I got the Pull Key, Wait 10 Seconds message. When I started the car up, it said Service Column Lock. I have never seen this message before. The car stalls out immediately after trying to go over 2 mph.
I bought the car in September and did actually have the pull key message once before but thought it was just a fluke as it never happened again..
For the skip shift install, I did have to disconnect the battery. The Battery looks relatively new but has seemed a little slow when cranking the car in the morning. Could this have anything to do with this? Or should I go ahead and order the LMC5?

Any help would be appreciated.
A weak battery is a symptom that triggers the message. I would have battery tested and replace if necessary and a good idea to get the LMC5. Several things trigger the issue, low battery and starting the car or turning on switch a couple times in a row really fast without giving the BCM time to reset will cause it as well. I have one in the rear compartment but haven't installed it yet, rolling the dice, LOL. I keep battery tender on my car every time I pull in the shop so always fully charged. Good luck with it.

Yeah I've heard that battery issues can trigger it as well. I will test it and see what the results are. Thanks for the reply
Update: Tested my battery at work today. Battery tested bad. 12.3 Volts and only 160 CCA out of 690. I got a new battery hoping it would fix the service column lock. Started it up, same thing. Battery is a group 78, 800 CCA.
Checked the codes. No codes in the BCM. There is however, 5 codes in the LDCM.
B2252 - Key Cylinder Switch Fault
B2282 - Battery #1 Fault
B2284 - Battery #2 Fault
U1064 - Loss of Communication with BCM
U1096 - Loss of Communication with IPC
