Default Need some help. Body Control Module Bad?!?

Hello all, Thanks to this website I was able to find alot of information already. I have a 97 c5 M6, that has the problem "Service Ride Control, Shocks Inoperable" MAx Speed 80MPH, service vehicle soon all display in the DIC. From the information I gathered from this site, I was able to pull some codes. I also have cleaned all 5 grounds (1 next to the LR rear tire, 1 next to the RR rear tire, 1 under battery, and both by the headlights pulled apart the clip and cleaned everything. and made sure there are grounded properly. Also removed the plasic under the battery to clean all the corrosion from there, and checked the computer box located under there, everything looks ok down there, then cut open the harness, to check all the wires running under the battery, everything looks good. Anyay I can't really find any information about this one code 38-RTD - Real time damping - NO COMM. From what I could find, this means its not getting power? As if it was working I should pull some code from this? I went to inspect the Ride Control Module behind the drivers seat in the trunk to the left. To my surprise it was just laying there, not even hooked up. So Obviously I hooked it up, cleared out the dic by leaving the battery unhooked overnight. the next day started it up and right away same problem. My question is, Do I even need the Ride Control Module if I switch to aftermarket shocks with resistors? I just want some more information on this before I but parts? WIll this happen if you have a bad module? Or will a bad module show a code to tell you its bad? The module itself seems ok, doesn't look damaged, but whats odd is the part number on the lable reads:

SERV. NO. 16248391 BYYM

*648391R063330070* TAR

16248391 BYYM

Now I can't find this part number anywhere? I don't even know if this is the right module? Does anyone know if there is a new part number that replaced the old one? Anyone else witha c5 have this service no?

Any help is much appriciated.

Thanks!
