I have an 02 coupe and yesterday while driving home i lost all gauges, door switches etc. This morning driving it to work it was coming and going.
i checked all the grounds and used some die electric grease on them. I was able to pull the codes that were current and they were:
p1626
U1255
U1096
U1016
SDM
B0026
There were a host of others that were history due to it losing communication with everything on the car. When i try to pull them up when the gauges are dead its not communicating with anything. Im surprised the car still runs.
Any ideas? Im leaving for the C5 C6 bash in the morning.

History codes are always helpful..please post them.
Did you check the common problem of a bare wire/short in your harness going through the door? Wiggling/shaking the black rubber accordion tube in the door jamb will sometimes re-establish communication, but of course as a long-term solution you have to find and cover the bare wire. More info on this is on the Forum.

Im getting ready to pull the car in the shop and will check that. Would that cause loss of communication with everything?

The bare wire is not the problem....the connectors/harness is.
Ok i checked the door harness/connectors and they are fine. I pulled the BCM and checked all the leads, also pulled the kick panels and checked those grounds. It all looks fine, whatever it is is intermittent. It comes and goes.
Its happened to me twice, 1st time cleared all codes and all was fine, 2nd time took out connectors from between driver door and body saw bare wire and siliconed it , cleared codes again and has been fine for 3-4000 miles now. Crazy thing is car runs fine but nothing else works, Guages, radio AC etc. Seems like its a split second loss of ground More than one on here has mentioned the bare wire in the door connector. 03 Z
Found it! I installed custom seats last week and one of the wires on the seat harness got pinched and was causing all the codes. So glad i found it and can go to the C5/C6 bash tomorrow.
Make sure thatbthe BCM isnt getting wet or damp from moisture /condensation back up from the HVAC air box. If it dry:
Pop out BOTH door accordion tubes. Pull the harness connectors out of the door frame hole. Disconnect the connectors and see if you see any female pins that look like the one in this connector:
The drivers seat connector can cause issues like this also. Check that connector too.. It takes abuse if it isnt secured properly.
There are TWO thin grey connectors to the LEFT of the BCM. Those are the STAR class 2 serial buss terminals. Find the one with FOUR wires.
The TOP of the connector can be removed and should have a shorting strip in the cap. With that connector removed , you isolate both doors and the seat serial data. If you gain normal operation of the other modules, you have an issues in the doors or seat.
I've had the gauges turn off while driving, due to low voltage from an faulty AGM battery.
You can try disconnecting the battery and giving it a full charge over night. This will reset all the computer modules.
Also maybe test the battery and alternator.
Yes Bill i was prowling some of your earlier post and saw where the seat can cause that and remembered i just installed custom seats. Pulled the drivers seat and there was a wire that got pinched. What a relief!! Thanks for all you guys do here on the forum to help everyone out. Without you guys and this forum where would we be? At the dealer..... lol
