i'm just curious...
has anybody successfully installed cutouts right behind the differential? i want to get some, but i don't want them under the transmission because i could possibly need a trans brace on down the road after some mods, so i'll need that space. also, just coming off the side of the pipe, it ain't open in the direction of the exhaust flow, which, for some reason, irks me about that location. i don't want them hanging low or out in the open either for clearance & aesthetic reasons, so behind the diff is the only other logical place to put them. there seems to be room & straight sections of pipe to y off of with turn-downs right behind the sway bar.

I have mine in the typical/standard spot infront of the transaxle and have the DTE brace and put the brace on after the cutout install. It was a bit of a pain as I did not drop the rearend. They do not hang down any lower than normal. I think you could get fumes in the car if mounted to high. Ineresting to see if anyone has mounted them anywhere else. cheers
I saw a picture on the forum of them done that way just in front of the muffler. Looked good and makes more sense to me than heating the diff up. Try the search.
yeah, i saw those pictures a long time ago (while in my extensive search of cutout locations), and they seemed to be too low. after talking to DMH, i realized how low of an angle those pics were taken from & he said the customer who sent those to him (they're also on the DMH website) said you can't see them from normal eye level.
i just never updated my thread with my findings... i got those same 2.5" round ones and am picking the car up tomorrow (i went ahead & had them drop my ARHs in while they were at it because with tech school, i just ain't got the time anymore). mine are gonna be a little farther back & higher. the exits are just above & slightly behind the rear sway bar
Be sure to update with a picture or two when you get your car back. I'll be ordering mine after I see what yours look like. I'll either do what the above picture look like or if I like how yours are done, I'll go that route.
picked up my car a few hours ago, and it turned out even better than i expected! valves are right where i said they'd be & can't be seen without basically laying down behind the car. there's plenty of room & they have clearance on all sides. it don't hardly even drone in the cabin either because they're sorta pointed downwards-ish (think of it like drawing a line in the flow direction from the cutout to a point on the ground right behind the bumper). i actually had to blip the throttle (from idle) to see if they were open. now outside's another story! my friend who gave me a ride to the shop (drives a KB mustang with a great-sounding magnaflow exhaust) wanted me to punch it by his window... i know i'm supposed to drive with them closed for a while to break in the seal & all, but i figured a pull or two wouldn't hurt. i stabbed it in 3rd from about 2200 & he said it was almost painful. i said Rock On!!
the only problem i have with it is that the guy who actually did the wiring didn't get the memo that i wanted the rocker switch beside the TC button until after he'd already put it in inside the armrest beside the 12V. it ain't bad, but it surely ain't the easiest to use when driving - open the lid, **** your wrist funny to reach it, close lid... and if you're parked, the e-brake handle's obviously sorta in the way. i can live with it, though.
