I have a 2002 z06 and just had an RPM Stage 4 transmission installed with a spec 3 clutch. Ive had the car out of the shop for about 3 wks now and the shifting is very rough. When I go to shift from 1st to 2nd its really choppy and rough and same with going from 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th. It is also very hard to put into reverse. I don't know if this is normal of if something is wrong. I just thought that I shouldn't have to rip to shifter has hard as possible to get it into gears.
If you are stopped with the clutch in, brakes off and in 1st gear, rev the engine to 5k+. Does it want to creap a little?
C5's are not the smoothest shifting anyway but an RPM built gear box should not be the issue. You often hear of this AFTER aftermarket clutch installs.
Exact same seniro today here inhouse. Car came in with a bad pilot bearing and shifted exactly as you describe. The transmission will be damaged very soon if you continue to drive it or possibly already damaged. The car we just finished a few hours needed a new pilot bearing, torque tube housing and input shaft. The lower slave also needed replaced because of the input rubbing the inside of the sleve. The old transmission was possibly damaged as a result of other issues and the new one will follow if not repaired immediately. The transmission should shift very smooth and NOT be notchy.
So how much more is this going to cost me? I'm a college student and took me forever to get this transmission but the last thing I want to do is damage this one.

Did you put in the trany and clutch? If not the shop probably damaged it when they installed the drive train. Did they put in a new one when they did the R&R? I sure hope so.
