Will the real bullet proof tranny please hook up.....
Was reading vstellas post concerning his broken tranny, one that was susposed to be top of the line. I am sure after some track time all A4 will take a power, therefore, want to ask....what tranny do you guys feel is a top performer and will hold together for some track time? What about the Yank? Ideas are appreciated. Thanks

Duke:
Right now it appears as if the Level IV tranny built by Chuck Johnson of FLP Performance (Naperville, IL) is the most battled tested A4 tranny on the market right now. On my pewter vert with very similar mods and identical power as you pewter vert has (see my sig) i have about 5500 hard miles on my tranny so far and about 30 plus drag strip launches on it and so far so good:D I also know that Austrian Vette has run his extremely hard with many N20 blasts and his is also holding up a champ. I know that several other FLP trannys are out there to and maybe some others will chime in which so far have been holding up after some good beating on.
Call Chuck and told him that I referred you to him. YOu are probably looking at between $2200.00 to $2,500 installed with core exchange and your right, it is just a matter of time that with your power you will crap out with stock A4 tranny if you drive hard like most other heads/cam guys (like myself) drive.
Re: Will the real bullet proof tranny please hook up..... (DUKE)
So far the most proven tranny is FLP level IV 4L60E. Many C5 & F-body owners have it & it is holding great even for 500 rwhp motors. If you are planning to run 600+ rwhp, then there is no 4L60E that is going to last.
Besides, heat is the first enemy for the transmission. Proper cooling will insure longer transmission life.
Re: Will the real bullet proof tranny please hook up..... (DUKE)
FWIW to 'ya...My transmission has all the right parts in it. When a manufacturer claims that it's transmission is "unbreakable " you have to assume that all the components in the transmission have been tested under the toughest scrutiny and passed. That doesn't mean that each component will work as well with other components of different manufacturers in the same transmission. Many GM parts are in these so called "bulletproof transmissions". In fact these same GM parts are actually superior in stentgh and longevity. The fact that a specific manufacturer didn't do the necessary and required quality control will have a absolute devasting effect on the other components associated with the total operation of the transmission.
So....to summarize, if the transmission is otherwise made up of all the best components..it only takes the weak link to devastate the entire transmission. This may be as simple as spring or a seal that fails. Then your bulletproof transmission is not bulletproof after all... That's what happen to me and it can happen to [b]ANY[b] transmission under the right circumstances
