Default Harness Bar Seat Interference

Im looking at harness bars so I can put a Harness in my C5 Z06 for AutoX events. So far I've looked at Hardbar, Brey-Kruse, and Sparco (Arizona Speed and Marine as well but it looks to be unavailable) I've heard the Hardbar limits seat position (how car back you can lean the seatback) and since im 6' 4" that could be an issue for daily driving (I tend to cruise around with the seat all the way back)

Does anyone have any experience with any of those bars? its obvious how the Hardbar would get in the way, but the Brey-Kruse seems offset and the Sparco possibly even moreso.

Any advice?

Hardbar will interfere with the seat and actually is mounted too high. BK is a great bar but expensive. Not sure how the Sparco bar works but with the down rods seems similar in concept to the BK.

I had the BK for about a year my Z and it did not interfere with seat positioning. I removed and sold it, I think they're a waste unless you couple it's use with a racing seat. Now I just cinch the seat belts, works well.

My BK doesnt interfere at all. The seat back goes all the way back till it hits the carpet

There is a lot to be said for this point of view. If the shoulder belts don't come over your shoulders from directly behind they stand a good chance of sliding off your shoulders unless you have a sternum strap to hold them together. In addition the belts don't keep you from moving around that much without a good seat. Basically, the seat holds you in the car and the belts hold you in the seat. When I had a roll bar in my C5s the 6 point harnesses didn't add that much more stability over the cinched 3 pt OEM belt. I was still bracing my legs against the door and tunnel and using my arms to keep my upper body from moving sideways with cornering forces.

Agreed, the bar and harness were a bit more effective than the OEM belts when I used them in the coupe with sport seats but not by much. They were not effective on the Z with the solid back seats. The bar and harness provided no noticible increase in holding ability over the cinched OEM belts in my opinion.

You will need to add the Hardbar Extender to move the bar rearward and down. The previous owner of my car was 6'4" and it worked fine for him.
