Had a buddy help me install the vararam and he is a lifelong mechanic but it took longer than i thought. My question or need for help is this, it seems like the Vararm did not go in right and here are the issues:
1) I did not get any codes (i know this is good)
2) The Vararm did not flush up against the openings where the fog lights are, when i called Vararam they said that the material was more flixible but the one i got was not
3) This would have been fine had it not been that the two pieces on the bend heading up to the engine were riveted instead of having bolts
4) Really I am looking for someone to send pic's to and tell me everything is ok
It has been on there about 3 weeks with less than 200 miles on it since but had no noise, issues, codes etc... that i have noticed.
I agree.... I also had to muscle on my vararam to fit. It seems to work well. I will also check the foam seals for leaks. I did not like cutting the foam to make it fit and there could of been gaps in between the foam.
Mine bolted right up. The Power Duct was another matter. Didn't line up at all with the Vararam. Wrong angle! Had to put a wedge between the Vararam and the radiator shroud to make it line up. Not running the Power Duct now, since it is more trouble than it is worth. No issues with the air cleaner seal.
Does your filter fit in the upper housing like this;
That's a gap between the filter and the upper housing, giving a direct path for air and dirt to bypass the filter. There were similar gaps on all 4 sides of my filter. I ripped that foam out and RTV'd the filter into the housing.
