When I shift from 1st to 2nd under load I get a grinding noise when I release the clutch. I think it is a syncronizer. At low speed and under minor loads it does not make a noise. I may have a chance to get a low mile used 2002 Z06 transaxle. Would it fit? Should I fix the 2000 transaxle?
Any help would be good. I saw cost of $2500 to fix but I thought I saw you can buy a new one for $1400. I can do the mechanical work myself.
It looks like your transmission also needs to be rebuilt before installing or at least the synchros need to be gone through. What year is your transmsision? I saw some infomration that indicates the 2002-2004 Z06 (MN12) is different and the torque tube is larger. I first was asking is someone knows if it is the synchro and second does a 2001-2004 Z06 parts fit in the 2000 FRC?
ALL T56 transmissions from 97 to 2004 interchange. The Z06 (01-04) M12 trans has the 2.97 first gear and the rest has the MM6 with 2.66 first gear. All 2001 and up have the carbon blockers (00 and older has the PAPER blockers) which are more desirable.
The torque tube also interchange on years 97 -2004. The 01 and up do have the 12mm which are stronger.
