THANKS for you help!
You won't know until you take it apart, and evaluate what was done. There may just be a plug-n-play adapter harness, which will make using the factory radio again easy. Also depends if the speakers have been changed, and how much hacking was done, to make the double din fit.
Like someone said you never know how much butchering went into the installation, whether it was done by a amateur or pro, if its a plug and play or involved wiring set up. And hell man, you've got a set up that wasn't even available on C5s. I would leave it as is.
I'm just guessing, but most likely the factory speakers have been changed out as well. Bose speakers usually won't work with other head units, unless there's a PAC unit installed for the speakers. It's only for the built in amps that the factory speakers use. If they have been changed out then a factory head unit won't work for those speakers. I had to change out my radio and had to do the speakers as well. I could have bought a PAC box ( a device that is used to use factory speakers ) but they were already 9 years old and giving out since there paper speakers.
I have two radios one a single cd....Also a cassette player bith are OEM Bose the cassette is out of my 97 also have the cd changer it is a 12 cd changer... All work well I replaced my stereo with a Kenwood bluetooth I pod connection...If interested make me an offer...
