I have an 04 coupe with no mods (except wheels) and I'm considering an air induction mod. After reading everything on here I could find, I'm still not sure if I should. Is there ANY advantage to installing air induction in a stock car like mine or would I just be changing to more expensive parts that do the same job as factory parts? BTW, I don't havy any intention of cutting up this Vette to add ANY part. I understand you have to do surgery to install some of these systems and it ain't gonna happen on my car. It's either a fit with no cutting or I stay factory. Thanks.

Reason: forgot to add something
Thanks you two that answered kindly. I'll check Vararam out further. I guess there are pros and cons with every product. To the other guy; thanks for your quality answer too.
Seeing that you live in KY be aware that you shouldn't drive cold air intakes thru deep standing water as there is a chance of hydo locking the engine if you suck up water.
Many people have complained about Vararam's quality and fitment issues. If you want about 90% of the benefits of a bought CAI system for little or no money, do this: Buy a new or used Z06 airbox cover to get a larger front opening (or modify your stock one), then cut some slots in the upper horizontal runs of your foglamp shrouds towards the center of the car. These slots will be invisible from the outside. At speed, air will rush into the foglamp shrouds, look for a way to escape, and be ducted up into the airbox area. Yes, there are some obstructions in there, but you will be getting outside ambient-temperature air to the airbox vicinity. Use common sense on the size and placement of those slots, not compromising the structural integrity of the shrouds by making the slots too big or putting them too close to mounting tabs, etc.
I tried the ZO6 cover mod, zero gains.Vararam reduced my et 3/10's right out of the box.I had no problems installing it and no problems since.I track my car at least once a week.Down here we have real frog chokers of thunderstorms all the time and alot of standing water.Never had a problem or ever heard of a vararam user down here having an issue, mostly one of those myths.

I have the VARARAM and LOVE it! If you want cold air, thats the one for you. I have NOT had any water issues with the vararam! Ive driven it in rain storms so violant that I had to pull over cause I couldnt see. NO ISSUES!
One NOTE! Install the vararam and get a good street tune!! You will have a whole different vehicle. You will need a crow bar to break the grin off your face!

I guess i'm the other guy...
My answer was not meant to be insulting or "quality" as you put it.
You asked "Is there ANY advantage to installing air induction in a stock car like mine or would I just be changing to more expensive parts that do the same job as factory parts?" My answer would be - there is little to no advantage to just adding a CAI.
You must realize that HP and performance gains require changing the configuration of the car. You said "I'm still not sure if I should". You said "I don't havy any intention of cutting up this Vette to add ANY part" and "it ain't gonna happen on my car". It sounds to me like you enjoy the fact that your car is stock, so my original reply still stands - keep it stock and enjoy it for what it is - America's Sportcar.
Mini-hijack - To all of the Vararam guys - how much is the price/HP of a Vararam? BC says you need a street tune to get the full benefit of the VR. So, considering a stock car with a stock tune, when you add it all up (VR and street tune) how much is the price/HP? How does this compare to other bolt-on mods? Or should i be asking what is the price/how many tenths can you shave off a 1/4 mile time. Just wondering.
OP - In spite of your rather snide response to my "not-meaning-to-be-rude" reply I still hope you get your question answered and continue to enjoy your Corvette.
My Vararam cost me $255 on sale.A cheap 3/10's for a drag racer! You dont really have to have a tune to gain this either but a tune will improve upon it.
