Default Steering Lock Recall and bypass

Yes I have gone through the sticky on this subject but cant find my answer.
I am in the UK and have 2001 LS1 Euro spec still with steering lock intact unlike the US cars of that year. I currently have no problems or messages, so question is

1 Do I get the recall done (reprogramme only) ?
2 Once reprogrammed can I still fit a CLB if neccessary?

TIA Mike.

The recall / reprogramme has definitely not been done and from your comments I wont bother with it if all it does is adjust the fuel cut off speed. The car is Auto and only has 7K on the clock and I have had it since 2600 miles, I checked via the VIN through main dealer and no record of recall, but will check via the fuse method as well.
The CLB I have is the Houston version and I am OK with fitting it but I think I will just keep it in the glove box for now as it is easy to fit even at the roadside if and when needed.
Just for info I would still like to know if the CLB can be fitted after the reprograme recall as there is some confusion here over the pond, I note from other posts that earlier recalls with harnesses and other mods can be removed and CLB installed, is that correct?
THanks for your prompt response and help.
Mike.

Thanks for your detailed responses, I now have a far better understanding of all the variations and possibilities. I have also been talking to a Corvette agent over here and even they reccomend unoficially of course that it is best to ignore the recall for reprogramming and fit a CLB for piece of mind, so thats what I shall be doing later this week.
Thanks again for all your help, informative as always

Mike.

don't waste your money on the clb and leave car alone, don't tempt fate, clb CAN FAIL, don't believe someone who says they can't, it is sales hype., the choice is yours to make...good luck.
