Oh well...I stared the head swap on my wife's cam car and found the dreaded "needle bearings in the heads" from a crashed GM rocker arm
Question; has GM fixed this issue, or is that always going to be an issue with stock GM rocker arms with cams in the 600 (598/601) range?
I hate to spend $500 bucks on Yella Tellas for a car that will NEVER see a drag strip and not be abused.
Also looking at the LS7 rockers at around $19 each
Any thoughts?
Thanks
LS7 rockers won't work. You can either look for a used set and upgrade with the trunnion bearings or per "Eric D" who works for GM, the new rockers no longer have this issue so a new set from a GM vendor may be your fix.
We can rebuild your rockers for $199 with the Comp cam trunnion kit. It will take care of the needle bearing issue. We have rebuilt sets in stock ready to go
Thanks VN
They are AFR 205s
Its interesting that Summit advertises the LS7 "exhaust as a bolt on for LS1 etc
I hadn't thought much about them until I saw them on Summit
You sure you want to run stock rockers with the bronze guides? Might be better off with the YT's. I couldn't get a good wipe out of the stock rockers but got an excellent one from the YT's.
Hadn't really thought about it until now, since I wasn't aware of the problem beforehand
I just hate to pay $500 for a set of rockers for a weekend cruiser that rarely gets beat on. (she just uses it to embaress the camaro and mustang kids )
