Hello there,
well, I had pretty much given up on find a set of Pilot Sport A/S RF's for my 02. So, I started looking at the Firehawk RF's because there were so many positive things said about them. Well, I finally found a full set of the pilot Sport RF's. My questions to you all is, do think there is $260 worth of the difference betwee The Michelin's and the Firestones? The Firestones are the cheaper of the two. Just thought I would ask you in case anyone out there has compared the two.
In my little opinion, that is a lot of difference. The Michelins do have, if I remember right, a higher tread wear rating, but... I went thru the same thing on another level; decide between runflat or regular tires. Since I may drive my car on long distance trips I'm going with the runflats, but that will cost me about and extra $100 per tire! :U
I say GM needs to find a spot for a temp spare; at least for the coupes and verts.
If you are talking about the Yokohama runflat, from the many web sites I've visited searching for tires, they are just about the same price as the Goodyears. I don't think so. And with that LOW treadwear number... See my next post.
Wear ratings are not comparable from brand to brand. Even within brands, they are only guides at best. :yesnod:
Soooo... What else do we have to go by? In my experience, Michelins have a great tread life; hence the 400 rating? If you were after great tread life, which would you buy, a tire with 400 or a tire with a 180 tread wear rating? :D
I would prefer not to put a set of $1000+ tires on this damn car every
year! :U
