Default Wheel Options

I currently have 18 x 8.5 and 19 x 10. I been back and forth on purchasing new wheels etc, but am not really wanting to spend more than I have to for a happy medium.

What I found are three options:

1) Stick with what I have and swap my rear tires to a 295 Toyo R888.

2) Downsize rear wheels to 18 x 10.5 ($374) and increase my selection for wider rear tires.

3) Downsize all around to 18 x 10.5 rear ($374) and back to 17 x 9.5 front. ($346)

Option 1 saves on wheels and is an easy upgrade when tires wear out, no real added expense.

Option 2 is just an added expense of $374 and allows wider selection, greater footprint, most likely better traction than 19 x 10.

Option 3, is this even an option to go back to a 17" front wheel? 18 x 8.5 vs 17 x 9.5?

Comments? Advice? Suggestions?

This would be mostly used for lateral acceleration.

Thanks in advance.

The most important thing to remember when choosing tire sizes is to try and get the same "split" or height difference between the frnts and rears as it was stock---That split should be 1"---- variations to that split alters the wheel speed sensor data that controls both your tract control and most importantly your ABS braking system--- Both systems may not fuction as desingend and may not work properly--Worst case senario is you won't have any ABS brakes and your TC won't work---This is NOT re- programmable or fixable

The stock diameter difference is only .5", not that 1" won't work. In fact I know that it does. I went 4 years or longer with a 295-35/19 and 265-40/18 combo that was well over 1".

Thank you for the input thus far, and I understand about the 1" difference from front to rear ratios, but what wheels would provide a better all around "happy medium" in relation to performance without having to get custom wheels?

Thanks

Are you wanting factory style wheels in different sizes than stock, or exactly, what? You say "in relation to performance w/o having to get custom wheels". Seems like a contradiction, so I'm confused.

Zee, if you refer back to the first post, I was inquiring about three options that were rather inexpensive as compared to purchasing custom wheels, such as CCW, iForged, Cray, etc.

The wheels I have on my car right now are aftermarket, and I found the very same ones offered in an 17 x 9.5 and 18 x 10.5.

Option 1 was to keep what I have on the car now: 18 x 8.5 and 19 x 10, and test out Toyo R888s in a 295. (keeping the 1" aspect ratio from front to rear)

Option two was, downsize my rear wheels only, going from a 19 x 10 to an 18 x 10.5 to allow a greater selection of tires and the ability to go wider, such as 305s, 315s. Somehow, I think this is the best option.

Option 3 was to include downsizing front wheels from 18 x 8.5 to a 17 x 9.5. (Which I didn't think would be a better pick over an 18 x 8.5, but I don't know...The 17" is a 9.5" width) If I did this, I could always try and sell off my current set up of 18 x 8.5 and 19 x 10s to offset the purchase.

Hopefully this clears up my intent.

Thank you again for your input.
