Clutch/gear/transmission problem?
I have no idea what the problem could be with my car. I have a 1998 manual transmission vette with just over 80,000 miles on it.
I'll try to explain what its doing...
When i am driving in 5th or 6th gear then hammer the gas, the RPM's increase as if I have the clutch just slightly engaged before catching and driving normal. Also notable, when I do this with cruise control set, it disengages the cruise control. I don't have my foot anywhere near the clutch so It's nothing that I am doing.
Could the clutch be going bad? Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this problem.

It's definately your clutch.
