Default Advice please no power

I was driving back from work yesterday and I did a quick burnout in second gear while the car was moving at walking speeds. This was pretty cool never done that before. Then my abs light went on for a rest of the drive home I noticed my dash lights would be dimming even more noticeable when fans would turn on. Once I got home decided to turn the on Vette and nothing happened. The car did not even turned and all juiced went away immediately battery is optima red top still works. Got home from work today used the key remote to see what it would do. This time it beeps and lights flashed. Tried to turn it on but nothing at all, acts like there is no power at all. At this time I have check battery connections, fuses are all ok.

Did you break the alternator belt and your battery is now too low to turn engine?

Clutch safety switch? Are you getting clicking or nothing. Usually the light dimming thing is voltage regulator or bad alternator. What does the volt meter on your dash read?

I would be willing to bet that your alternator has failed.

Well right now the it has no juice at all. Checked the battery and it is at 11.5, at this moment no lights come on at all have to use the actual key on it to open door. I will check the alternator to see whats going on there. My other question at 11.5 volts some signs of power should be visible so what else could of failed?

Many things will not work on a C5 once the voltage has gone to low, advice you charge the battery and try starting the car. If the car starts after charging try measuring battery voltage if you have a DVM with the car off, and then with the car running, if voltage is not at or slightly above 13 volts when the car is running, your alternator has failed.

Charge your battery and make sure it holds 12.7 volts or close--or replace it. That will probably solve all your issues

you live on a hill? get someone to push u and try to kick start it since you have a 6 speed.

i had the same problem you did a while back.. it turned out to be a low battery, when i kick started it it got the ball rolling but i got the low power all lights thingy going...

try it out

I must be missing something..just don't see how this would accomplish anything at all. Better make sure you have someone to push you back up that hill if it doesn't start.

First thing I'd do is Double check the battery connections - at both ends - the coincidence of the burnout physical jolt might be the cause
of something coming loose - you must have proper voltage as stated above.

Remove the battery terminals, clean them. Reinstall and TORQUE them on to 11 Ft/lbs if you have a side terminal battery.

Have someone try to start the car while you measure the voltage directly on the battery terminals and see if the voltage drops low during the attempt to crank.

Will the headlights pop up and turn on?

No lights or accessories turn on at all also checked battery connections and everything is fine. I check the fuses and found Maxifuse for radiator fan burnt. I also noticed the maxifuse for abs looks like its about to give up. I have battery charging but don't know why a simple burn out would make this happen.

when u get batt. charged crank car and check voltage at rear of alt. some c5's have alt. with a clutch (as i have) to disengage alt. on hard acceleration. it may be still disengaged, tap with wood handle @ cone-pully and see if that helps.

Thanks so much for the advice. I was going to put the charger on it then the light went on. My connections where ok, disconnected the battery when it was on and it stay on. Everything went back to normal just don’t get why it happen that way. I have already replaced the maxifuses for fan and abs.
