Default Differential fluid

I recently changed the diff. fluid in my C5 to Amsoil plus GM additive. I wish to do the same with my Z28 but with Mobile 1. Word is that is a no-no as it apparently violates GM spec 9986115. No one seems to know what this specification is. Is anyone on the forum familiar with this issue? What are some fluids that DO meet the GM specs? I sure hope Amsoil plus additive does. Thanks for your help. Rad

I would think Mobil 1 would meet any GM standard, as they are pretty tight. The fluid requirements should be in your owners manual, and if appropriate fluids are readily available, contact your dealer. Let them figure it out.

btw, I like mobile 1 gear lube.

Why did you put in the GM additive? The Amsoil Series 2000 already has 5% additive in the oil as it comes from the bottle. Were you having a problem with it?

I had previously discussed that issue with an Amsoil Distributor and he indicated he put the additive in his diff. I thought I should do the same. Rad

I use Series 2000 but I don't remember what he used. :)
