Default Please recommend an air intake system...

My stock air intake system broke where the air bridge meets the air filter box when I manipulated the system to clean out the radiator. The car has 180,000 miles on it...these parts had become brittle. So, it is time for a new intake. It has been many years since I thought about air intakes. What are folks putting on the C5 today? Thanks in advance.

There are many out there and we all like ours best. The Vararam has very good results.....top of the heap cai, better than stock.
Bottom of the heap....dual cone system. Many are considered middle of the road upgrades.
The search function is your friend......there are tons written about this subject (daily).

So how many systems were you planning on buying?

There's never been a consensus on intakes, shifters, headers, catbacks...or whether you should keep your body side moldings.

Before I would buy a Blackwing I would buy another aFe. I had one on my car for 3 years before I bought a Vararam. If you want the best, get a Vararam or Honker.

I like my halltech venom, but the vararam is the best performing... I just didn't want a bottom-breather.

Absolutely. Blackwing is easier to remove and clean, no quality issues, ,16-18 HP on a stock motor, more with mods, and if you can find a used one $100-150 its all good.

Calloway seems to produce the most HP due to relocation of the maf.

I have installed many CAI on C5's. Here are my thoughts on them.
The K&N is very easy to install, but the bridge rubs on the hood liner alot.

The aFe is also easy and doesnt rub as much on the liner.

The Blackwing simple install pretty stright foward.

With the Honker, you have to outline the lid and cut the shroud and you better hope you have it lined up correctly or it wont fit properly and the lid could turn out crooked.

The Vararam is easy to install if you take your time. I was one of the guys that always said the fit like crap and are cheap until I bought one. Mine looks great, went on without a single problem, and seals very well. If you want to move the MAF you can buy the power duct.

Just my thoughts on the ones I have installed. Honker and Vararam still get my vote for the best. Also, the Vararam has been proven time and time again.

Alot of people will say whatever they have is the best and most have never had anything other than the air intake they put on their car to compare. I think its because they dont want to face the fact that they spent more money for less performance.

Callaway Honker. A bit pricey, but a quality product that produces.
