I noticed while driving yesterday that my interior lights were not turning off. I made sure the doors and trunk were shut securely, but they still stayed on while driving. When I stopped, they stayed on for 5 or 10 minutes, but eventually turned off. I got in the car this morning and it was dead and there was a very odd clicking sound from the fuse box under the passenger floormat.
I thought about removing the fuse for the interior lights to eliminate the drain, but it wasn't clear which fuse it was. It looked like it might be Micro Relay Fuse 42 (Courtesy Lamps), but I wasn't able to remove it. Any ideas??
If the dimmer switch (small round **** just below HUD controls) is rolled clockwise to the click, your interior lights will stay on all the time and run the battery down. They will eventually turn off with the battery protection feature at around 15 minutes. Roll the **** counterclockwise and see if the lights go off.
I had a similar thing happen to me. The reading lamps would not shut off and ran the battery down. I replaced Relay 37 - Monitored (inadvertent) Load Control in the passengers foot well box and that fixed the problem. I removed it and it showed a lot of discoloration on a few contacts near the base.
Wiggle it a little bit. Relay 37 didn't want to come out easy at first, but with a little wiggling it came on out.
