Oil pan gasket material.
I discovered a spot of oil on my garage floor under my Corvette. Inspection showed that the oil was coming from the front of the oil pan primarily dripping from the two bolts on either side of the filler plug. Filler plug is tight. I tightened all of the pan bolts approx 1/64th of an inch. They were not loose but required a little effort to tighten. My question is: What is the material used for the pan gasket on a stock 2001 LS1? From what I could see, it looked like red neoprene. If this is the case perhaps the tightening of the pan bolts will fix the leak. What is the opinion of this forum?

Its a rubber O ring on a metal core gasket. If you ever saw one you would not consider it as a problem. Your leak is most likely a bad damper seal caused by either a bad sealing surfase, bad seal or both... It fails like this:
