radio plays only low volume

radio plays only low volume
I just got the aftermarket radio out and the original radio back in . The radio will only play low volume. It does not get many stations either. what could the cause be? There must be some sound guys out there. Thanks for reading this. The car is a 1998 coupe if that makes a difference.

Are the speakers powered (Bose)? Are they getting power? Is the antenna connected properly? When the aftermarket stereo was in were the wires cut? Is everything back they way it should be?
Im sorry but on a technicality it is a variable lol.
