Default 408ls2 queston???!?!?!?

I just bought an ls2 shortblock and dropped it off at the machine shop to get it built, queston is can I bore the aluminum block to a 408? I plan on making 800hp+ on the engine and wasn't sure if it would be safe? It is a FI setup and will be running around 15lbs of boost.

What are you calling a short block? I call a short block the bottom half of the engine already assembled, piston, rods and crank (no heads).

I don't believe you can bore an aluminum block, but you can have it honed. My LS2 402 has a 4.01 bore and a 4 inch stroke. I think that's on the safe side for a hone, but you can call one of vendor sponsors TSP and ask them about it.

Default LS2 + 4" crank = 402

To get 402" you will need a new crank. I would want new (Forged) internals to support 800+HP. Why not send it to ERL and get it sleved?

But is very heavy too. Plus coated bearings would be nice for those power levels.
