CV Boot Clamp Options?
The problem w/those are that you have to use a GM specific clamp tool.
I had both of my axles out & took one to a shop that does nothing but suspension work, to find a clamp to work w/my CV Boot clamp pliers for ear type clamps.(Made by Lisle part #30800. Cost $32.00
The guy @ the suspension shop fixed me up w/two of the large clamps
for free!
The shop I went to is a Bear allignment shop. They will have yellow sign in front w/a smilling yellow bear.
If you have the proper GM boot clamp pliers, you would be able to use a stock open ended GM boot clamp . Clamp is GM# 20-36#BJ109L
Myself, I would get a correct measurement of the steel round area where the large boot clamp fits. (Use a set of o/s measuring calipers. Take the measurement down to the boy's @ the allignment joint & have them set you up w/the clamp that you could use with the Lisle tool I mentioned.
Good luck.
The GM # I gave you for the large clamp is for the outer boot(closest to the wheel/axle) So if your looking to replace the large clamp on the inner boot(closest to the diff, I think it may be a different GM part #.
You will have to check w/the dealer in which part # you would need.
You better check that boot & make sure there isn't a small tear/pinhole in it.
It will release poly greese w/ the smallest/minute, tear/pinhole.
Good luck.
