Default Cabin filter, location & removal

Having that strange foul odor that is possibly coming from the cabin filter. Unable to find it. Maybe the C5 didn't come with a cabin filter. However, I doubt that. Thxs everyone.

the odor can also be comming from your AC ducts ( mildew). Any auto supply will have a product ( brand names vary) that you can spray into the vents to eliminate the odor.

Lysol spray works good too.

100% correct! That is another area where moldey smells can originate.
Make sure that the HVAC Condensate Drain on the fire wall is free and clear and allows the condensation that builds up in the AIR BOX to drip out of the air box!

If you dont see water driping out of the car when the AC is on and running, you either live in a state with ZERO humidity or the drain is clogged!!

We use a mopar product to kill the mold that forms on the evap core for this problem.I think most parts stores sell a product call frigidfresh that is the same thing. You spray it into the recirc door to coat the core,it works!

I have a 2001 Corvette Convertible and have a moisture problem where the inside widows and the inside trunk lid have water that forms on the inside. Is that normal because it is a convertible?

You just tacked a new question on the end of a year and a half old thread about a non-existant cabin filter. To get better answers, click "start new thread" instead of "reply". (also violates forum rules about posting on a thread older than 45 days with no activity) I see you just joined, so thought I'd give you an FYI.
I can tell you however that I have owned 3 C5 convertibles and I've never seen any condensation inside the car or trunk. You may have a drain blocked in the a/c where it goes through the firewall letting water back up into the cabin.

No need to apologize. I'm sorry if it sounded like you needed to. I wanted to be helpful since you are new and explain the best way to get fresh relevant information. Many times when you add on to an old thread, specially when your question is different, you don't get the answer you're looking for. It's best to do "new thread" and put words in the title of the thread that get you answers and that you and others can "search" later. That's why it's in the rules to not post in threads with no responses in over 45 days. There's a whole page of rules, and they are often not followed, but can cause the thread to be locked by moderators. That will also stop the responses that you may need to solve your issues.

Thank you very much for this information. I am overwhelmed with the amount of information provided by this forum. I have about 5 different issues I need to work on pertaining to my C5. I should have my garage cleaned out to the point I can get my car inside to work on these issues. Love your 65 Vette, Sweet Ride

Thank you. When you post a new thread, put the problem in the title, that way someone who has had the problem can see it and click to help. Also, in the future searches, it will show up for someone else having the same problem. Also put in your question the year of your car and whether it's manual or auto, body type, etc because all systems aren't equal between all C5's. I would bet that any issue you have has been seen before and someone will know the answer. Lots of people on here willing to help.

What I did find out is before the car was sold the back window was busted out and replaced. I do not know how long the window was out before it was fixed. The moisture could have been in there prior to and gotten down into the padding. If that's the case I will deffinetly have to take the carpets out and replace the padding. I have a new convertible top to install anyway....

"on the firewall" -- OK, any hint as to where on the firewall? Driver's side, passenger side, accessed from above, accessed from below?

Thanks,
Sal

LOL! Passengers Side... Look at the rear of the passengers head. There will be a lip area on the fire wall near the area where the head sits on the block. That boot /fitting is in that lip area.

Tough to get to from above and if you have headers, it makes the job tough also from below.
