Default Fuel pump power line

Where is the easiest place to intercept the power line to the fuel pump?

I cannot make hide nor hair from the shop manual on the best place to identify that wire bundle.

What do you mean by "intercept"? What are you trying to do?

If your planning to ADD something to the FUEL PUMP electrical circuit,, you may want to reconsider.. The IGNITION SWITCH contacts supply that power and they are already TAXED to death to supply the required current for the normal fuel pump.

If you put a relay on that wire and allow the relay to handle the additional LOAD, that would be fine. A relay does not require much current for the control side of the coil.

The EASIEST place to add a connection is right at the drivers side fuel tank electrical connections OR at the engine compartment Fuse panel fuel pump relay.

Bill. Negative. Hidden power kill switch.

We just had another car stolen from the company parking lot. Just want an added layer of protection from the quick smash and run car jacker.

What type of car was stolen? The theft deterrent system on a C5 disables the starter, and fuel injectors. Unless your "smash and grab" thief has the ability to try all key resistance combinations(with keys)...that car is not going to start.

Convertible, domestic, 2011 something. Slashed the roof, smashed the column, hotwire and gone.

I know about the capabilities of the C5 system. Cool beans. I would just like to add a redundant and separate deterent to starting.

If I were going to do it, I would install a switch in series with the ground for ignition relay 42. Flip the switch, and it kills the injectors and coils.

WOW !!!! SCARREY!! You and I think VERY MUCH A LIKE!!!!! That’s the EXACT thing that I was thinking the second he said theft deterrent!

It’s a LOT easier to break a GROUND WIRE than it is a power wire. There all over the place and easier to get to!! There are a LOT of other things that you could easily KILL to keep people from driving the car. I use to disconnect the connector for the Throttle Motor when I went on vacation and left the car home. The kids would have NEVER figured that one out!! Car will start and it will run really poorly (reduced power) but unless you Idle it around town, you NOT going anywhere!

Ah HA! Ground interrupt sounds like a better plan.

I used a kill switch with a key on my prior Honda. Car would start, but sputter out (fuel pump offline). Switch was really hard to find. Just prevented the trainee car jackers from making off with it.

I'll check the shop manual, but were can you easily find a ground to ignition relay 42?

I never said it would be easy....

The the following grounds go to a common splice point(S120) , and are in turn grounded at G106:

Relay 42
PCM
TAC
MAF.

The splice point, is located about 6 inches from the main engine harness, down the bundle that leads to the PCM. If you don't want to mess with the splice point, you can put your switch in line with the terminal a G106, and the engine ground. Done in this fashion, it will kill the PCM as well though.
