Default Electrical Problems After Jiffy Lube Oil Change

I started a thread last week after I reset my oil life using the gas pedal method and the "Gauges Info" started scrolling on it's own. I recieved a suggestion to disconnect the battery for a bit and see if that didn't reset the codes.

At first it appeared to but then I noticed today that the air conditioner was blowing hot air on the driver side and cold air on the passenger side... Of course, TODAY reached 105 here in Las Vegas for the first time this year and when I turned off the A/C and hit Auto again - it didn't fix my cooling problem but it did bring back my scrolling gauge problem!!

When I got home I tried to check the DTC Codes and after three attemps it FINALLY went straight to manual codes but wouldn't advance through them. Before that I couldn't get the gauge info to clear long enough to run through the codes...

IRONICALLY... I didn't appear to have ANY issues prior to changing my oil. All my gauges seemed to work properly and the A/C would cool the car off in record time. SO GLAD I got my oil changed at JIFFY LUBE now... Maybe I'm just a paranoid skitzo or...?? but the attendant talked me into the newer, more expensive synthetic oil and kept trying to get me to do the air conditioning service or the coolant service or...?? NO! NO! and NO! Just an OIL CHANGE!! OK?! Now all this...?? WTF?!

I've heard of things happening to cars taken to various places in order to get more business even as low as that is. Happened to be girlfriend's daughter. She took her car in for tires at a local shop who also did other maintenance and was pushing her real hard to get her radiator flushed, which she refused. All of a sudden a few blocks from the place, her radiator had a leak. No way to prove they did it, but we know they did.

I'd hate to think that (naturally) but it seemed to cool OK on Sunday and Monday and then I disconnected the battery Monday after work never noticed it on Tueasday but the gauges had stopped scrolling. Today coming home it was like a saunna in there and I felt in front of the passenger vent and it was cold but mine was luke warm...??

I had the same problem happen to my old '99 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. I thought it was a problem with the dual climate system because it seemed to feel cold on the passenger side but not the drivers. Took it to an auto A/C place and they told me my compressor just had a really bad leak and they gave me a recharge. Everything was ice cold after that.

This happened to me in the spring though, not in the dead heat of the summer. How cold is the air coming out of the passenger side?

When I got home - just prior to my RANT about JIFFY LUBE and the odd coinscidence - and disconnected my battery again... MOSTLY to see if I could get the DIC Codes to display correctly.

They did display as follows:

40 BCM
B2578 H - Right Front Turn Signal Monitor Circuit
B2583 H - Left Front Turn Signal Monitor Circuit
AO - LDCM
B2284 H - Battery #2 Circuit
BO RFA
C2120 H - TPM System Malfunction
C2121 C - TPM System Programming Malfunction

And for the time being, the air conditioner seemed to be blowing out cold air equal to what the passenger side felt like... BUT... My gauges were right back to scrolling through the "GAUGES" info again...??

Any suggestions as to where to begin looking...??

6 - 8 months old. I was having battery draining issues and went thru 2-3 new ones from Wal-Mart before finally giving up and taking it to a Corvette specialty shop who found a rear defroster switch that was keeping the circuits open and draining it. Took them about 6 hours to track it down and repair it...Or at least that's what they CHARGED me! haha... I know I never would have found that myself! Mr Goodwrench I'm NOT!!

The key pad that allows you to interface with the IPC has an issue. One of the bubble modules behind the button is STUCK in the depressed state.

It just so happens that I have that schematic!

Remove the switch module and use an OHM Meter and see if that button/switch is closed/shut (ZERO OHMS)

It should be infinity when the switch is NOT DEPRESSED.

Default I will never go back to jiffylube...

Well first off with the scrolling gauges issue, Bill Curlee is right about the button (I don't know anything about the engineering schematic). I had the same issue...a couple good pops on the buttons didn't fix it so I disassembled and cleaned it out. Good as new.

As for JiffyLube...well they're effing morons. They continuously try and con my wife into different services...found this out when the $19.99 oil change on her 2006 Kia Rio turned into a cost of $75.00. They will constantly try this with women that they know don't know anything about their cars. They will convince them that the car will explode in 20 miles if they don't get this or that done. And then (in my opinion) will bring the prediction to fruition if the woman refuses the suggested service.

I myself took my 2000 BG Vert in for an oil change (money was a little tight) at jiffy and though I'd save a few $$$. When I pulled into the bay the kid (who judging by the type of tatoos had recently been parolled) asked me to pop the hood (which I did). He asked me to try again when the front didn't pop up. When I exited the car and raised it from the rear he said "well ain't that cool...never seen one do that, is that aftermarket?" Then he tried to put QuakerState 10w-30 in her. When I told him what oil was required (Mobile1, Amsoil, Royle Purple) he said they didn't carry those. I left and needless to say I haven't been back.
