I have an 01 that was giving me belt squeak/chirp. Threw a new a/c belt on, and a new serp belt on (gates brand), chirp went away. Now the only squeak I get is at startup. Very short and by the time I let the key move back to the run position, its quiet again. What are your thoughts on this?
My thinking is to start with tensioner/idler pulleys. In my mind maybe the initial "torque" moves one in a funky enough way to cause the squeak. My plan for next weekend is to drop one belt, then the other and start the car. If the squeak is still there am I now looking at a starter? What should my next move be to troubleshoot. Thanks
