Default A/c problem

OK need help. was having problem with my a/c not blowing cold air . had it diagnosed and found compressor needed replacing . Did that, got one from A/C DISCOUNTERS along with drier, orafice etc. (got whole kit). had it installed . charged line . was blowing cold at first then the lines started to freeze up and now it wont blow cold air. Is there a blockage. its dual climate controlled. Does the second control need any thing also i.e. orafice, blower etc. really don't want to take it to dealer $$$$. so far only had to buy refrigerant as well as the compressor. Labor free. me. friend. need advice from my corvette bros. help heat wave on the way. oh the car is a 2000 coupe 6 sp. passenger climate control LS1 engine

Did you clean the rest of the system out before you installed the new stuff. I had the same thing happen, and it was the new orafice tube that plugged up again. Once they opened it up, you could see the stuff (metal shavings) that was plugging the tube, it had also been put in backwards to their dismay. I took mine to a corvette specialist finally , and it was worth it. Still works great. That would be my guess for what its worth, not a expert but this drove me crazy for a while trying to figure out what the hoot was going on.

Gauges should give you a good clue to whats going on. You did pull a vacuum and checked the pressures as you filled the system, right?

Default The $5 expansion tube is worth replacing

All my pressures were right on but poor cooling. Was the $5 expansion tube. Change it, evacuate, and recharge and see what happens.

Default A/c problem

Thanks big hank i.m starting to believe the system got contaminated when replacing the compressor, will replace exp. Tube as well as look at the new orifice tubing to see if debris is evident. Purge, replace, recharge. Seems to be the order for the day. Thanks again.

Default Expansion or orfice tube is in the hi pressure line on right fender

Must discharge before taking single bolt out. Mine was so stuck in there had to use needle nose vise grip plyers and pray I didn't break it off when removing. Lines should be fine as they probably dont get clogged but the orfice tube can..

If you have to open it up again, I would also replace the dryer to prevent future corrosion from any moisture in the system.
