Newby here. I just bought a 2001 coupe. 80k miles. She was wrecked on the right side 3 or 4 years ago but repaired by a good shop. She has a road noise that I did not notice when I test drove because dude had the top off(maybe because he didnt want me to hear the noise....) It appears to be coming from the rear. I really cannot tell if it is related to one side or the other. I initially thought it might be the tires because she needs new ones. But now I notice that it gets a little louder as I go around a left curve and quieter as I go around a right hand curve. More noticeable in town at speeds below 50mph or so and less at hiway speeds above 50 or so. I dont think its engine or tranny related because it does not fluctuate with the rpm's. It's progressive as related to speed. It's noticeably loud but tolerable. No engine codes exist. There is a 'service active handling' 'service abs' & 'service traction' message. I know its hard to armchair diagnose problems but just wanting input if anyone has suggestions.
Also looking for a good mechanic in northwest Arkansas that maybe works on the side that will be a little more reasonable than your local bow tie dealer. (I took her to one here local to have an ac belt and a front marker lamp installed and it cost me over $150.... I just didn't want to do it because I work a lot of hours and it was hot and I just did not want to do it at the time. boo hoo. I know....) I knew a guy that was a certified gm mechanic that did work on the side but we have moved. He is a few hours away.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Paul. Did a little searching & sounds like noise is a common issue w/ C5's. The only thing that concerns me is that it's louder when I turn left & quieter when I turn right. Is this common??? Thanks again.
That sound changing when turning sounds like it could be a wheel bearing. My guess would be the left side but it's possible the right side bearing was damaged in the accident.
