I recieved code P0440 on my 2002 corvette it was reset after 2 weeks light came on again Same code reappeared...reset again and replaced gas cap...what is the next step to resolve this check engine lite. If so what part should I order.
Haven't had this on the Vette, but have had it numerous times on my daughter's Jeep. Every time it turned out to be a cracked rubber hose. I would check the hoses for leaks (many are hard hoses on the Vette) and if there are any rubber hoses check them for cracks and leaks.
As stated, got a hose cracked somewhere. Try to google the EVAP system diagram so you can check just the hoses that goes with it instead of chasing your tail with every vaccum hose on the car.
Have you removed your intake manifold recently (or has a shop removed it)? The little vacuum supply line off the back of the manifold is easy to break. Another common evap vacuum problem is caused by battery acid dripping down onto the evap lines that run beneath the battery tray... Pull your battery and check for acid drip.
I think the EVAP line is on the drivers side of the engine if I remember correctly.
Pretty close to dead center off the back of the manifold very slightly to the passenger side underneath the MAP sensor (unless my memory is going... I did just turn 26 )
That's what I get for reading a thread too fast. He said EVAP and I read HVAC... I'll edit my earlier posts as they will be of no help in fixing this issue.
The cansiter is back by the passenger side fuel tank so you will need to trace lines for the whole system and not just under the hood. Check for leakage as well as cracks.
