Default Gauge wiring help!!

I have a 98 A4 and I'm currently wiring two guages:

1)Electric boost gauge (autometer cobalt)
2)Electric fuel pressure gauge (autometer cobalt)

For the boost gauge the instructions say I need a 12v switched power source that maintains voltage when you are starting the car.

Questions:
1) Where can I find this on a 98 A4?
2) Can I use the same power source for my fuel pressure gauge?

Also I downloaded the A&A instructions for installing a fuel and boost gauge and the instructions say to "locate the black 4 pin connector under the steering wheel (with at least one yellow wire)". They say to use this for switched power (I don't know if this maintains voltage when starting the car but I could test).

The problem is I don't have a black 4 pin connector under my steering wheel (actually there are 2 but they have no yellow wires and use tiny 22 gauge wire so it can't possibly be these). I do have a black 6 pin connector (with 5 wires currently in use and one is yellow), do you think this is the connector the instructions are talking about?

Thanks for the help!!!

In your passengers footwell, theres a dedicated connection just for aux power. Theres a switched and hot and ground wire just for that purpose:

Its a YELLOW (switched), ORANGE (HOT) and BLACk (ground) wire pig tail. If it never been used, it going to be wraped in black duct tape!

Heres a picture of it. Its ABOVE and to the (LEFT) of the BCM:

You can actually disconnect the pig tail from the connection and work on it at the bench:

I use that connection for multiple power sources and long as the group doesnt go over the 20 Amp max current rating

Hope this helps

Umm, well you meant to say above and to the left of the BCM or shiny aluminium box in the picture correct?

Had me looking for a while!

I don't have my vehicle in the condition currently where I can test this but is the yellow switched wire hot when the key is in the "start" position (cranking the starter)? I have an autometer electric boost gauge and it says it requires this (so it can calibrate itself before the engine starts I suppose?).

The YELLOW wire is only hot in the ON & ACC positions.

I'll use this switched power source for my fuel and wideband, I'll just find another for my boost.
Thanks for the help!
