Well today I noticed some interesting shifting patterns with my A4.

I was cruising along at 45mph, 1500 Rpms, and when I mash the pedal, the RPM's jump to 3500RPM, and then just rev up to 6000-6200 RPM, and bangin off the rev limiter. Then I tried it at 50mph & 55 mph, and the same thing happened. Tried it at 30mph, and it happened again. Its definitely repeatable at all speeds! and every time it shoots to 3500RPM before it goes crazy into the redline area.

I noticed this only happens if I step on it all the way to the floor.

Another issue I found was from standstill acceleration, the car revs up to 3000RPM before it upshifts. 3000RPM and 20MPH is when its happening.

I'm having the dealer look at it on monday!!! Local friend who's a tranny guy, thinks its the shift solenoid. I was talking to him on the cell phone when it happened, and he was able to hear it. He compared it to a M6 missin a shift.

BTW, the tranny only has 2500 miles on it :confused: No powerloader on any mods on it. Completely stock

I had that problem as well....Not fun. You might want to consult new CF member eastco (Steve).....He's a C5 trans tech here in Florida. His website www.eastcoasttransmissions.com

Good luck w/ the problem. Hope its only the selonolid. My 02 4 only has 1000 miles so I havent notices any problems yet. Hope I don't either! :smash:

 

Does the trans shift through the gears ,does it feel like a shift to 3-4 and then it freewheels,you can call me direct at 954-772-3000

 

Well, just got off the phone with the dealer....

They had to replace the 3-4 clutch pack and drum. Apparently there was some debris in there, causing the actuator to stick. Their putting humpty dumpty back together again, and picking it up tomorrow

 

Had that happen too.Mashed it at about 45 and it took off and then started breaking up. Runs great all other times.I think it is going from 4-2 instead of 4-3.Could be in between and can't make up its mind. Only happened once so could be a normal SNAFU???

 

JCR, I would recommend to have it checked out if your still in warranty.
