Default Rollcage advice

Looking for opinions on various different rollcages. Custom vs. Bolt / weld-in. Any recommendations? Note: This is mainly incase my wife decides to steal the keys! Seriously.

Roll bars can actualy be worse in a crash without a helmet if your head can reach it and it is unpadded. Chromemoly saves quite a bit of weight.

I'm going to pull my bolt in out. I don't like the fit.

The stock Vette has great roll over protection with the roof hoop already in place. If you are really concerned about your wife's driving the car on the street, don't be. If you are concerned about track use of the car, that is entirely a different story. Each sanctioning organization has different requirements, and you shouuld follow them.

if your real concern is your wife "stealing" you car, you might have a bigger issue to work on.

mild steel won't need to be stress relieved. Chromoly has to be baked after welding to removed internal stresses.

+1 on hittiing your head without a helmet

I know. But partly why I love her. A girl who wouldn't try to steal the keys to a 6-700 wheel vette almost bothers me more.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm planning on tracking it both x and drag. No trailer queens here.

You are talking about a roll cage Vs a roll bar??? Roll cage will put bar's beside the driver and passengers heads without a lot of room between them. They will need to be wrapped in stiff foam roll bar wrap not the soft stuff. Getting in and out of the car will be an issue unless you also go with a removable steering wheel. SCCA went away from bolt on cages and requires weld in ones now. Cage will not be cheap. Expect to spend quite a bit of the value of the car on a good cage install.
