So my 97 was acting like it was starting out in 3rd gear. 3 codes pulled up on it (and I did lots of reading on what to do to fix it):
P0758
P1571
B2482
Bought the shift solenoids 2&3 and the dealership replaced them (figured this was the problem and all would be good again). Transmission fluid was very low which they filled up (must of had quite the leak). Now (and it's still sitting at the dealership as they are trying to figure out what else the problem could be) apparently the shifting problem now only occurs when it gets warm and is intermittent. Dealership check the ignition and that didn't seem to be the problem. I also read something about checking fuses 16 & 19?
Any other ideas what to have them check? Cars is down there still so I don't know if any new codes have come up and I can't remember if they were current or history - I could go over and check if needed.
Please help!!! There will be snow on the ground again if I can't get this figured out for them

Are they sure it is filled to the proper level now? You know how most dealerships are.
The solenoid voltages come directly off the IGNITION SWITCH. The ignition switch is well known to carbon up and fail to output the correct VOLTAGE. Read fuse 19 test slots to chassis ground. There are TWO slots on each fuse. Those are TEST SLOTS. Read EACh slot to ground an MAKE sure that you read exactly what the battery reads on the terminals!!!! If it significantly different,,, thats a problem!
POP out the fuse and make SURE that the blades are not lose, corroded or overheated!
Solution to my problem:
Seems that my problem all came from a bare wire that my GM tech guy found.
It was the wiring harness that comes into the transmission. So the solution shy of changing the harness was that he moved the harness so it wasn't touching / grounding out and put some zip ties on. Been driving for just over a week now and no problems with shifting since. My GM tech guy went the extra mile on his own time to figure out the problem.
As for checking the tranny fluid, mine had under 2 qt in it when the problem occured. The tech said that these transmissions are amazing - they will work on extremely low fluid.
UPDATE:
Fixing the bare wire helped for a while, but now the problem is back. Changing the ignition now... see if that works.
Did you check the voltage at fuse 19 as suggested in post #6? That should tell you if you need to replace the ignition switch. No need to just throw parts at it.
Checked at fuse 19 with the first problems & it was fine. But now that it happened again, have new codes that came up (same ones as before plus P0748 and P0463 both showing as history) and now showing errors at fuse 19. So going to try replacing ignition switch and hope this is the fix.
