Simple question....to change the shifter **** on our '03 C-5 do I just grab the old one and twist it off lefty loosey righty tighty? We're new to the Corvette familly. Having fun so far.

It varies depending on whether it is auto or manual. If it is manual then you have to remove the shift pattern plastic piece by just prying it up being careful not to mar the shifter and then remove the locking key that is on the inside. Once that key is out you can then twist it off, oh and that key is often referred to as the demon key.
If it is an auto then there is a staple on the front of the **** that has to be removed before you can take it out, I believe that you twist that one off too but Im not too sure about that.

I've seen the key broken OFF before from people trying so hard to remove it
