Under the drivers side wiper is the air intake for cabin air. My guess is that you have a busted hose that is leaking some fluid into that air intake. Raise your hood and take a look. The air intake has a screen over it. Make sure that is always free of crap, leaves, etc. Good hunting!
The outside air intake for the HVAC System is under the cowl. When you squirt the windshield with fluid that contains ethal Alcohol, the alcohol evaporates and the vapors get sucked into the cowl area. Directly below the passengers side wiper shaft is the opening for the HVAC outside air intake.
Try selecting RECIRC Mode and see if the smell is less or goes away.
I've owned the car for a little over a year and a half now and have only noticed it the past few months. So its not a result of any modification, I'll check out the recir air suggestion and see how that goes.
Just a thought....get some washer fluid that doesn't stink
I just use distilled water in mine, but I hardly ever use it-when the windshield gets bad,I get out the Invisible Glass, and a cotton towel and clean it the old fashioned way.
Hey,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Add some cool sent to your wash fluid and you can make your car smell good! Other than doing that,,, your NOT going to change anything other than selecting the RECIRC Mode.
