Default C5 LS1 overheating?1

I'm on a road trip with my C5. Encountered 95 degree F temps and engine temps rising to 226F. Temp held then dropped. Headed for South Texas and air temps of 112F. Should I be concerned about engine temps that high or is this not out of the norn? A bit concerned, or is my concern for naught?

You should see about 198 going down the road, somewhere higher in traffic and up to 220-228 in the Wendy's drive thru. If you see more than this, remove the crud and debris from the radiator.

Just make sure nothing is caught up in the airdam. In south texas a T stat and a quick change in fans temps makes for a cooler running texas car

Clean out the radiator from all the dirt and grass will help dramatically reduce coolant temp

Actually 226 is not "OVERHEATING" I'm surprised noone has said this but that is the way the car is supposed to be from the factory....

"The low speed cooling fan is commanded on when the coolant temperature reaches 108°C (226°F). It is turned off if the coolant temperature lowers to 104°C (219°F). The high speed cooling fan is commanded on when the coolant temperature reaches 113°C (235°F). It is turned off if the coolant temperature lowers to 108°C (226°F). When the A/C is on and the coolant temperature reaches 85°C (185°F), the low speed cooling fan will be turned on at vehicle speeds less than 56 kPh (35 mph).

This is right from the tech manual.

If you want the fan temps changed and a T stat installed we (Lethal Performance) are in San Antonio and can help you out if you want the car to run cooler. I should have stated earlier that your temp is normal to OEM standards.
