Default Maf sensor and power duct problem

My maf is actually too small to fit inside the power duct! not exactly sure why. The air bridge is definitely for my year (1999) because it has the iat provision in it to install the sensor. The outside diameter of my maf is 3.5" where the inside diameter of the power duct is 3-3/4". i doubt the little relief cut will allow the plastic to seal that 1/4"... I may just have to put the maf at the filter instead of relocating it up by the throttle body. (I'm running a Nick Williams 102) Anybody else have this issue? trying to decide whether to ditch it for the 85mm ZO6 or just run mine at the filter. I think the MAF was de-screened by the previous owner and also the plastic aftermarket ends installed?

Aren't you supposed to connect the MAF to power duct using the silicone hose provided in kit?

according to the instructions I received, the maf is supposed to slide into the plastic end of the duct (doesn't make much sense to me) and the hose steps up to the tb size. I'll try for pics later

I have the older MAF with the two ends. Not the easiest to tell from a picture, but it's definitely loose in the air bridge. I'm afraid to try and tighten the clamp and risk splitting the air bridge where the relief cut is.

mrm1149, I actually have that same air box. I will probably just run mine in the same location as you, like it was before the new air bridge. I can't see that much benefit from moving the maf to right in front of the throttle body anyway. The maf sensor definitely does not fit near as snug in the plastic bridge as my picture looks

I agree on the maf KEEP UPP, unless you're way into performance I fail to see any appreciable difference in location. A few more pics for you, second one is connection to the throttle body

I had the same issue with my 97.

This might be a little redneck....but I wrapped the end (built up diameter) of my MAF with duct tape......yes duct tape.

I did not make the fit "super tight" just enough tape to snug it up and then tightened the clamp.

Seems to work good.

I would be open to a better suggestion?

Anyone have any suggestions with this setup to get fresh air supply to passenger side valve cover? Understand it should be after MAF so its metered but currently mine is not...

I'm running a catch can setup and will be blocking off the passenger front tube (from the valve cover) with a vaccuum plug. I dont have the ability to run a hose to the NW throttle body so I will be running an aftermarket breather from CASPER electronics that replaces the oil cap.
