Default Bounch front end

I recently purchased a 2000 vert with 11,800 miles, now has 14,000.

I have installed larger sway bars front and rear and new ZO6 shocks.

However, the front end seem to bounce more than expected. Do I need firmer front springs? Also what type of front springs are on the car; coil or leaf???? Would lowering 1/2 inch help?

Thank you

Your car has tranverse leaf springs front and rear. There are base springs, Z51 springs, and Z06 springs with increasingly stiffer spring rates. What sway bars did you upgrade to?

Well not sure now, bought them at GM parts house along with urethane bushings and metal end links.

Where can I purchase firmer springs (front)? Big labor install?

Thank you for you quick response.

The bounce in the front end is probably coming from what you feel as insufficient front damping from the Z06 shocks. Increasing your spring rates is only going to make a potentially under damped car get rougher and bouncier. If you have a local speed shop in your area I would suggest getting in contact with them for recommendations as they may have some shop cars available for rides.

Like mentioned before, the Corvette uses a transverse leaf spring instead of a coil spring which makes finding replacement spring rates a little more difficult than other cars. There are a couple different spring rates offered across the Corvette model line, with the Z06 springs being the stiffest. That being said, the spring rates between the base car and the Z06 aren't massively different.

We offer a replacement shock in our Johnny O'Connell package that was designed to work properly on either C5 or C6 cars, and all spring rates across the model line. The shocks are firmer than the Z06, without being as harsh over large road irregularities. Designed to work for the daily driven Corvette, the Johnny O'Connell is equally at home at the race track. After installation of our Johnny O'Connell package the car becomes much easier to drive fast at the track. We are extremely happy with how the package turned out, and our customers wouldn't describe the package as "bouncy."
