Default difference between c5 zo6 shocks and c6 zo6 shocks???

What is the difference between the 2. To my surprise im actually shocked that the c5 zo6 shocks are roughly 200 more for a set over the c6 ones.

thats because the 04 sachs shocks that came with the z06 are the best performing shocks you can get for a c5 with a nearly stock setup. They are quite a bit stiffer than the c6z06 shocks.

the c6z06 shocks are still pretty good for handling, but it seems once you start upgrading past the performance the c6z shocks have to offer, the price is definitely no longer a linear relationship.

i bought some 04 sachs used with 11k miles. the cost of new 04 z06 sachs shocks is not justifiable for the added performance over the c6z shocks or something like the bilstien sports.

so if you are torn between the c5z and c6z shocks, either buy used 04 z shocks, or new c6z shocks.

best bang for the buck for new shocks IMO is the bilstien sport shocks.

I quite agree. The best bang-for-the-buck is the Bilstein Sport shock.

Edit: I dug around and found the shock dyno plots comparing the C5Z06 shocks to the Bilstein shocks. (Originator was "DG's AutoCross secrets"-Farnorth Racing). I believe that these plots are no longer available on that website though.

Well,,, I can tell you,, my 40,XXXmile C5 Z shocks were NOT doing the job. Car would skidder across the road if the curve was the least bit rough. Downright scary!!

Swapped in some C6 ZO6 shocks and HOLY SMOKES! Damn near a different car. For the price and OEM Stock FIT,, it's hard to beat the C6 ZO6 shocks.

Unless you’re a seasoned veteran road course guy who can tell if a tire has .5 lbs difference than the others in one lap, for most of us, the biggest difference between most of the other shocks is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If your that tuned in to the difference in shocks, HELL,, skip the standard shock and do COIL OVERS!
I drive my car hard and the C6 Shocks made a noticeable performance difference. Maybe it was because I had 40,K+ miles on the C5Z shocks but, I’m very happy with the performance and price.

Its difficult for the average driver to tell one shock from another unless you’re really putting the car thru it's limits. For most of us,, that doesn’t happen very often.
