Ok, here's the deal I have owned my 99 FRC for roughly 1 1/2 years. Shortly after I bought it I noticed when I washed it or it rained the interior was getting wet. I thought it was just a little bit, but when I stored it for the winter it was in a garage under a car cover. When I took the cover off the interior was covered with mildew. So I took the car to my body man and he said the roof had been off before. That was the first I had heard of that. The guy I got the car from said it had never been in a wreck and I also ran a car fax on it and it came back clean. So I got the roof fixed. Then while the car was there it wouldn't start. Kept getting the steering column lock message. Ordered and fixed that. But now sometimes when the car gets wet it won't start? I checked the DTC and these are the messages I got:
U1016: Loss of Communication with PCM
U1040: Loss of Communication with TCS
U1064: Loss of Communication with BCM
U1096: Loss of Communication with IPC
I reset my codes yesterday and these were the codes I got this morning. The car starts and runs fine 95% of the time. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Could be a wet BCM. Check under the floorboard on the passenger side and see if there's any moisture where the BCM is mounted. First step is to get it dried out.
