Auto Transmission Shifting Adjustment
I own a 2001 c5 with the 4-speed auto transmission and the taller final gear ratio. Can be a little slugish in 4th and 3rd depending on the terrain. Is there a computer adjustment to allow the transmission to shift later ie, at a higher rpm. If so, can adjustment be requested from a dealer or performance shop or buying a handheld tool? Any help appreciated.

Find a good tuner in the Charlotte area. I do not personally know of any but I am sure there are some. I had my A4 adjusted by a tuner in Greenville, SC and it cost about $100 and maybe 30 mins. I had the shift points changed, the length of time to shift, and the torque converter lock up speed to follow a table depending on throttle position. It improved the driveability of the car immediately. I also had the tuner "tune out" the AIR system so that I did not get the CEL. No issues with anything else. It was worth every penny. The dealer can do this but I imagine the cost would be lots more than $100.

A predator handheld tuner will do that for you. It will also let you bypass CAGS without the hardware and reprogram your fan temps so you can run a little cooler... There have been a bunch for sale in the Parts section recently. Just make sure it's unlocked...
