My 99 has been attacked by the dreaded popping sound front and rear - passenger side only.
I've checked all four anti roll bar end links. They are all GM replacement (not plastic) and all are fine - no resistance.
In the rear, I added 3/32 spacers to the anti roll bar bushing brackets and greased the bushings. I also removed the axle nuts and sprayed PB blaster into the void behind the nut.
When I unload the front spring, there appears to be a slick, almost polished spot on the top of the spring that the adjusting bolt moves across.
Is it possible that the popping sound is caused by friction at this point with the adjusting bolt scooting across the spring surface instead of sliding?
An inquiring mind wants to know. Comments welcome.
You're going to have to get underneath that vehicle (or close to it) and have somone up top compress the suspension to see if you can reproduce the noise.

I've tried that and since the noise is intermittant, it always chooses to occur at other times - usually first thing in the morning as I'm pulling out of the drive way to work.
