Default Broken Cigarette Lighters...

Well after driving the car for months with no accessory/cigarette lighter ports I finally decided to try to fix them. Mostly because I need them to fix the column lock.

First I tried the fuses, and both were fine.

So I figured I'd pull one out (the center console one was a breeze) and try replacing it.

I ordered the part from GM parts house... and if you look in the picture below it looks nothing like the old one (black tip). The new one is all chrome with a different end piece.

Does anybody know if GM changed the design on later models (my car is a 99)? Or if this replacement I ordered actually some sort of aftermarket piece. It doesn't work connect at all.

Thanks,

-Ed

Mine is an '02 and it looks like the one with the black piece. And the one next to the ash tray looks nothing like any of those. The one by the ashtray has a single post for an electrical connection.

Thanks Z06... I asked Gene about it today at GM Parts house (where i got the new part from), and he said there were actually two types of lighter ports for 99.
